Calling all Fairwarp walkers (with or without pooches) – we need your help! We want to find a replacement for the tree that we had to remove from the centre of the seats that remember Danny Thompson who was killed on this motorbike in 1987 aged 19 – “a boy of the forest’.

As the Village Green is part of Ashdown Forest we have to find a replacement tree from the Forest and this is why we need your help. We are looking for a sapling that is approximately 4ft (1.2m) high that we can dig up and replant where the daffodils are currently flowering in the picture.

We would like all you Fairwarp walkers to look out for a suitable specimen (on the Forest). If you find one, please could you take a photo, and, ideally, record its location with what3words. Or show it to a member of the Village Hall committee who can do that for you. Once we have its photo and location we will send the details to Chris Sutton, the Ashdown Forest senior ranger, who can then give us permission to dig it up and replant it.
There will be a small prize for the person who finds a suitable sapling!
