WI Meeting November 2021

Writer: tea155tea155

As we are in the run up to Christmas we thought the members would like a Christmas Wreath and Table Decoration demonstration. The wonderful Kerrie from Highgate Florists (www.highgateflorist.co.uk) wowed us all. Using materials that anyone could forage from the countryside - ivy, hydrangea heads, eucalyptus, fir, and cones - she slowly built a natural rustic wreath on a 12” ring of moss. With the addition of a blingy bow, some dried oranges and cinnamon sticks, she added that extra bit of swish to something already magnificent. And then she produced a fab-u-lous table decoration, again with these very basic materials, but this time surrounding a montage of three candles in a flower pot. We were truly inspired.

After our break for refreshments and, most importantly, chatter, we got down to the business of the evening. Firstly we had our normal meeting which included Christmas plans, next year’s programme - to possibly include a Strictly themed outing, this month's Supper Club venue - The Catt Inn, the Christmas Bazaar in the Village Hall, and parking on Ashdown Forest. We then held our AGM: starting with the Treasurers report - we have money in the bank; then the Annual report - zoom was ok but face-to-face is better; followed by the President’s Address - thanks and good memories, especially the Centenary Party; and, to close the meeting, the election of the committee and President for the following year. We are saying goodbye and thank you to Angela Tilly, and welcoming Tracy Atchison as our President for 2022. We hope to welcome more Fairwarpians (and, of course, Nutlians, Crowborians, and Maresfieldians) as members in this coming year.
