Last evening’s national display of public support for the NHS and all who work with it was astonishing. It was as if we’d all at last realised the seriousness of what the service faces, and wanted to show our support: Covid 19 is making us come together as a national community. And in Fairwarp, as in many other villages, superb community support work is also taking place: the Fairwarp Community Society (FCS) is modelling good practice. At the very beginning of the Christian era, it was St Paul who wrote that ‘we are members one of another’, imagining all of us linked into ‘one body’. These difficult and scary times remind us of that truth.
