Thought for the day 29th March 2020

First of all, we went on YouTube to watch a live-streamed service of Communion for today, Passion Sunday, from our daughter and son-in-law’s home in North West London (https//youtu.be/XCK8V77TL-w ) The magic of technology meant that all we had to do was log in: we could share the service and at the same time be in our daughter’s sitting room – specially tidied for the occasion! I found the experience a bit strange, even surreal – but this is the way things are going to be for a while.

Another example: I had an email from the Secretary of a society I belong to this morning suggesting we have our next Committee meeting by Skype: where will this all end? Will things revert to ‘normal’ pre-Covid-19? Or will everything be changed for ever? I wonder…. The other interesting thing? Our first supermarket home delivery arrived! And come to think of it, this is almost like I remember the late 40s and early 50’s: the local grocer’s delivery boy turning up on his bike with the week’s shopping. Plus ça change, say the French…
